The book, Thy Will Be Done explores the topic of prayer from a Biblical perspective. It provides evidence to show that the Christian believer living today is well-positioned to stand on the shoulders of Biblical figures who have gone before us, and to enjoy a robust and rewarding life of prayer.
Using extensive scriptural documentation, it provides a Biblical history of prayer from Abraham to the present. The book identifies major Biblical milestones that changed the way people prayed, and explores what the Bible means to us today when it states, “…if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. (1 John 5:14b)”
This book is intended for both individual and small group study. Each chapter begins with, “Reading With Purpose” questions to help focus the reader’s attention on the topic under consideration. Answers to the, “Reading With Purpose” questions appear at the end of each chapter.
In summary, the book shows clearly that the Christian believer living today is well-positioned to learn from the Biblical figures who have gone before us how to pray, and to enjoy a robust and rewarding relationship with God. Substantial Biblical documentation is offered to support this point of view, as are self-help tools for those who desire to pursue the topic in their individual Biblical research. To support those readers who want to pursue personal Biblical study on prayer, a list of over 500 prayers and references to prayer in the Bible is included as an Appendix entitled, “Biblical References to Prayer for Further Study.” Another resource for independent study for those with knowledge of Biblical languages is the Appendix entitled, “Hebrew and Greek Words for Prayer.”
